What is movement-based therapy?

You’ve probably heard buzz words like “somatic” that are trending across multiple social media platforms. Movement integrative therapy combines knowledge on the mind-body connection with traditional talk therapy practices. In session, you can expect to learn tools for regulating your nervous system alongside emotionally processing through collaborative conversations.

Movement-Based Therapy

for Creatives, Artists and Dancers

In North Carolina & South Carolina

Hi! I’m Kayla and welcome to Meirelles Movement!

This endeavor is the marriage of two of my biggest passions; therapy and dance.

I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate with 3+ years in practice. I am also a dancer with 6+ years professional dance experience.

Going through graduate school and working for non-profits and in private practice, I realized that sometimes people need more than traditional talk therapy. I’ve known for quite a while that dance and movement have had a special impact on my own mental health, so I sought out a way to incorporate movement into my therapy practice with clients. Meirelles Movement is the result of those efforts.

So welcome and thank you for being here. This website is still a work in progress, so if you have any questions please feel free to reach out via the contact methods below.
